Definition

humanitarian function concerned with whether and how people can register, be referred or receive assistance

AidGPT working definition. Informed by the Core Humanitarian Standard, Commitment 2, and the DCI AI Hub taxonomy. The function label is proposed by AidGPT.

Notes to entry

Note 1 to entry: An AI result that delays or denies support can have consequences even if a person makes the final decision.

This is proposed AidGPT function H-ACCESS. It needs testing and is not presented as an established humanitarian standard.

What to check

Explain how an AI result could lead to refusal, delay or reduced support.

Choose the main function that matches the purpose of the use, then add other functions where needed. Record the sector, crisis setting, language, geography and phase of the operation separately. A coordination task that spans several sectors should retain those distinctions.

Evidence and authority

Describe the effect on people if staff accept the AI result unchanged. Link to the applicable assessment and record who is authorised to decide. A function code does not assign a risk tier.
